3M™ DBI-SALA® Rollgliss™ R550 Rescue System is an emergency escape and rescue device designed for situations where it is imperative to get to the ground as quickly as possible. It provides a controlled and reliable descent solution for evacuation from elevated work areas.
Models with a Rescue Hub enable assisted rescue pick-off operations when a casualty is unable to reach safety independently. In these scenarios, the system can be lowered to the person, securely attached, and used to descend safely to ground level. The Rollgliss 550 is suitable for a wide range of custom rescue applications, including descending or repelling down structures during emergency evacuation.
The system features a bi-directional hub design, allowing rope to descend from either side so that one hook is raised while the other is lowered, ensuring immediate reuse after each descent. An optional rescue hub expands functionality to include both evacuation and assisted rescue, while an optional ladder bracket enables fast and secure attachment to ladder rungs for improved deployment efficiency. It uses a durable 9.6 mm static kernmantle rope engineered for strength and durability. Available lengths range from 10 m to 200 m for 2-person use and 10 m to 500 m for 1-person use, with a maximum weight capacity of 280 kg.
